DC Universe Online Going F2P on 1 Nov

Sony Online Entertainment announced last month that its superhero MMO DC Universe Online will be adopting the free to play model some time in October. As we near the end of the month, the company has confirmed that there will be a slight delay, a day to be exact. The game will go free on 1 November instead. Not really a good move considering that the game is also available on PS3 and the console owner would probably be busy on that day with some little other title...
Nevertheless, now there is no reason not to give this MMO a try, especially if you are a fan of DC comic. Although the entire game is free to play, newcomers who do not spend a single dime will only get 2 customizable character slots and they will have to pay for future expansion packs, additional character slots and inventory space.

Players who have already spent at least $5 in the game will become 'premium' members which get 2 more characters slots, more inventory storage and enhanced social options like trading and sending in-game messages. Those who fork out even more dough and pay for a 'legendary' subscription at $14.99 per month will get more of everything plus all future DLCs.

The price model seems pretty decent, but we still need to see the price point for future expansion packs. At $5, a 'premium' membership should not be a challenge, though whether it is necessary is another matter.

This is the perfect excuse for you to hood up and whip the asses of selected super villains, even though you cannot be the hero you adore.
